The 5 phases of launching and selling your programs online

Chanelle Segerius-BruceĀ

How does turning your years of knowledge into an additional income stream sound? Once you master launching your offers online, you can create a repeatable and scalable income stream in the form of group programs and high-level 1:1 signature offers.

Hereā€™s WHY Learning to launch your signature offer online is non-negotiable:

MORE MONEY IN YOUR BUSINESS

By teaching what you know, packaging and launching that as an online group program, youā€™re able to serve more people at once. As you nail the launching process, youā€™ll create pops of income throughout the year as well as predictable months by receiving cash via your clients’ payment plans. Launch consistently throughout the year (3 or 4 times) and use that to get new people into your program. You can then add other programs or courses to the mix once you have this down.

MORE TIME

As your income increases because of your launches throughout the year, youā€™ll be able to start outsourcing more tasks (eg: social media, general admin, calendar management, help around the house, etc), and grow a team to help scale your business and remove your involvement in day-to-day tasks. Once you start building a team and widening your support base, youā€™ll have more time for self-care and to focus on bigger picture strategies. Youā€™ll become the CEO instead of owning your job – AKA doing all the busy work in your business!

Naturally, if you donā€™t take care of yourself and spread yourself too thinly, youā€™ll end up burnt out. In order to launch successfully, youā€™ll need to show up with energy, a solid mindset and most importantly with confidence.

REDUCED ANXIETY AND STRESS

Iā€™m not going to pretend that launches are easy (especially if youā€™ve not done it before) but the more you do them the easier they become. In my own business, weā€™re creating new SOPS (Standard Operating Procedures) in Asana (a task management software program) so that each stage of the launch can be mapped out.

Launching your signature offer as a group program means that you wonā€™t be experiencing as much of the feast or famine phenomenon that happens when selling done-for-you services or maxing out on 1:1 work with clients.

I love the fact that I have ongoing payments coming in every single month via Stripe. This is because I have my own group program that I’ve opened for intakes at various times of the year once I open the cart. This has enabled me to take time off over holidays, head off to Spirit Fest for four days and expand my team for more support.

LAUNCH BEFORE YOU’RE READY

Launching online gives you the opportunity to presell (beta-launch) your service or program before itā€™s even created. Rather than spending loads of money and time developing something you arenā€™t sure people will buy, you can launch your program, sell spots and create it as you go along. By doing so, you gain valuable insight and feedback from your clients on whatā€™s popular, whatā€™s needed and whatā€™s not. After youā€™ve sold the program a couple of times you can allocate some budget to professional videos, a membership area and so on to make it top-notch. This is how you test your market. Once youā€™ve got some case studies and great testimonials you can increase the price point.

BEAT YOUR COMPETITION

Most people are clueless when it comes to launching a program online. Some may have been lucky and sold in-person workshops to a warm audience of people whoā€™ve followed them for years and were dying for them to do something like that for them. Those got snapped up fast, but then the well starts drying up and the excuses start rolling in. Putting on in-person events, retreats and workshops cost a helluva lot of money and the logistics can become complicated (not to mention restricted travel due to things like Covid-19!). By putting your signature offer into an online program people are able to access it from anywhere and at any time. Itā€™s so much easier to sell and for people to make a decision to buy.

Here are the 5 Stages to ensure a Successful Launch:

1. The Nurture Phase

Build your audience, position yourself as an expert in your field, nurture them and share valuable content without selling to them. An ideal space for this is a FB Group and donā€™t forget to build your email list at the same time!

2. The Prelaunch Phase

Generate new leads and build up momentum just before your launch, using challenges or a free live stream training series.

3. The Teaching Phase

Use live videos (FB or Instagram Lives) to give your audience ā€œresults ahead of timeā€.  Allow your audience to get to know you and give them a teaser of what itā€™s like to work with you. Bring the vibes – people buy your energy just as much as they buy the ā€œthingā€ youā€™re selling.

4. The Selling Phase

This is when you promote your program using early-bird pricing and disappearing bonuses.

5. The Closing Phase

  • Get in touch with your following and/or follow up on leads.
  • Create a sense of urgency and remind them of their last chance to buy.
  • Introduce a ā€œcart closeā€ countdown timer.
