I'm Chanelle I spent 10 years as one of the most sought-after wedding photographers in the UK,
lugging my gear to shoot after shoot — and then spending many hours editing images until midnight. When I wasn’t staying local, I was travelling to places like Bali and Morocco to shoot on location. Luckily I loved what I did but it was a one-way ticket to burn-out central!
90% of my weddings were published in glossy wedding magazines, and I was even commissioned by You & Your Wedding Magazine to shoot the back fashion pages. As my reputation grew, so did my workload. It was an endless cycle of late nights, early mornings, and full weeks spent away from my family, immersed in my job.
I was grateful to have so much business, of course, but I knew I needed a change and we were craving a warmer climate and a new adventure, so we joined a photography studio in the Turks & Caicos Islands in The Caribbean.
Two weeks before we left the UK, I found out I was pregnant! I still worked the 9-months and then took a few months off for maternity leave. I was being asked when I'd be going back to work and at first, I started with three days a week. My salary was reduced due to my lower number of hours and when I did the calculations I was paying out more to my baby's nanny than I was making. Something had to change.
We relocated to South Africa, I launched a social media agency serving mainly the UK wedding industry and ran that for three years. People started asking me how I do what I do, how to market and brand themselves so I took a year-long coaching program to deepen my own skills.
That’s when I became a business coach and mentor. I transitioned from behind the scenes to the face of my own personal brand. By October of that year, I had my first $17K month in sales.
I was selling high-ticket, high-value packages but what enabled me to truly leverage was creating my signature group program and moving from one-to-one to teaching one-to-many.
Fast forward to July of 2019 and my launch resulted in a $35K month!
I'd made my yearly income at the photography studio, my monthly income! #gamechanger
